Welcome to The CDI Group’s Continuous
Improvement Practice
I received my corporate education in continuous improvement at such
companies as International Business Machines (IBM), Motorola, Siemens
and Infineon to name a few. During my 20+ years of employment within
these organizations, I have had ample opportunity to utilize and
implement many improvement concepts that have been practiced in corporate
America over the last 2 decades. In my opinion, two improvement philosophies,
which have withstood the test of time, are Lean and Six Sigma. The
Lean Philosophy of Toyota has led their automotive division to become
the #1 automaker in the world and the envy of manufacturers worldwide.
By the same token, Six Sigma transformed Motorola’s corporate
culture, and subsequently many other corporations, to one of continuous
defect reduction and customer satisfaction.
Although these are powerful tools that can transform a company into
a model of efficiency and customer satisfaction, they are not “a
magic pill”. These tools cannot transform your organization
overnight. Inevitable you will see immediate improvement by addressing
issues that have easy fixes (i.e. “low hanging fruit”),
but true transformation and sustained results come from a disciplined
implementation of lean and six sigma into your company culture.
