Managed development of needlepunch and spunbond nonwoven products and supported manufacturing managers in introduction of new processes.

Established team that successfully developed a proprietary spunbond process estimated to have an annual potential in excess of $100 million.

Directed engineering group that reduced needlepunch fabrics manufacturing cost by 18 percent in less that six months.

Market Development Manager (88-92) – High Performance Fibers
Developed business and technical plans for four proprietary fibers focusing on industrial markets.

Coordinated work of three technical development teams that brought new fiber from concept to semi-works production level in four months.

Organized joint venture with major European chemical company to market flame resistant fibers on a world-wide basis.  Work included 2.5 year effort establishing objectives, formulating marketing strategies, evaluating target markets, weighing competitive advantages, and developing ten year business plan.

 
1985-1986 CORNING INCORPORATED, Corning, NY
Project Coordinator
Coordinated US based engineering and supply programs for new West German ceramics plant – reported directly to Project Manager.  Monitored status of all activities and supported engineering managers, project supervisors, purchasing managers, and suppliers to meet timetable requirements. 

Division Quality Executive – Quality Facilitator (concurrent)
Supervised five department coordinators in scheduling of 1200 employees.

Designed, organized, and led seminar for 75 critical suppliers to 17 plants.

Represented Ceramics Division on Corporate Quality Council and led company-wide sessions addressing “Commitment and the Climate of Total Quality”.

Career in family business included responsibilities (over a period of 17 years) in manufacturing, sales, purchasing, engineering, and general management of industrial textile company manufacturing paper makers felts and needlepunch nonwoven fabrics.

Director of Engineering (70-78)
Supervised engineering, equipment acquisition, and maintenance for 250,000 square foot textile plant. Led campaign to acquire state-of-the-art equipment to improve quality and expand production capability.

Planned and executed facility-wide rehabilitation program that resulted in $200,000 annual savings.

Established OSHA and EPA compliance procedures - no major citations during my tenure.

Director, Executive VP, General Manager - Nonwoven Fabrics Div. (73-78)
Developed and Implemented diversification plan that resulted in successful new product venture – the first in the company’s 100 year history. Managed all facets of nonwoven fabric operations from the division’s inception.

Completed market research and successfully executed pre-production sales plan.

Designed and supervised construction of nonwoven fabrics production facility.

Managed rapid expansion – tripled capacity of nonwoven fabrics division in less than 30 months.
